# Introduction

> The first ATS that runs hiring ops for you.

Needle is an ATS with an AI agent that does the work. It screens applicants, sources candidates, runs outreach, schedules interviews, and keeps your pipeline up to date. You make the hiring decisions.

## How it works

You set up a job with hiring criteria written in plain English. From there the agent runs the ops: every applicant is screened against the criteria on arrival, sourcing runs in the background, follow-ups go out on schedule, and every action is logged on the candidate's timeline. Anything outbound — an email, an interview invite — stays a draft until you approve it.

## Work where you already are

The web app at [app.needle.so](https://app.needle.so) is home base for pipelines, review, and settings. You don't have to live in it:

* [**Slack**](/slack) — DM the agent or mention it in a channel to check a pipeline, move a candidate, or draft an email. New applicants, interview summaries, and approvals come to you.
* [**MCP**](/mcp-server) — connect Needle to Claude or any MCP client and work your pipeline from wherever you already use AI.

## Where to start

Read [Jobs](/jobs) and [Pipeline](/pipeline) first — they explain how Needle organizes hiring. Then pick what you need: [Screening](/screening) for inbound applicants, [Sourcing](/sourcing) to find candidates, [Outreach](/outreach) to contact them.
